Summary: "Terrific road maps"

For map junkies, this is a beautiful product. This was a great aid for the driving parts of our New England fall color trip & I highly recommend it for that purpose. It also made finding trail heads for hiking easier. For biking, these maps have important limitations. It was impossible to read elevations off the contour lines. Photocopies of the maps to take on a bike ride as a route guide often did not reproduce the smaller back roads because they are represented by too fine a line. But this varies from page to page and between the Vermont & the New Hampshire atlas. Our Vermont Atlas seemed to use thicker lines than the New Hampshire Atlas. Our much older Oregon Atlas is even worse in this regard. A competing atlas is much better at least for Oregon.

Summary: "Vermont Atlas & Gazetteer"

I have purchased many State Atlas & Gazetters and ther are VERY helpful. One thing I like most about the Vermont book is the detailed close up of city maps in the back of the book. I hope the other books in the future have this feature. It is very heplful.

Summary: "Useful Vermont atlas"

Great atlas. A must for those who like to explore the back roads and beauty of Vermont the old fashioned way and not blindly follow a GPS device.

Summary: "Don't travel without one"

Vermont is a beautiful state and most of that beauty is best seen from the back roads (often unpaved) that lead over mountain and to villages. The Delorme Atlas and Gazetteer is standard equipment when I travel by car. I keep one in my truck for when in my home state of Tennessee and always get one when traveling to explore a place I have never been. I read maps well and teach map and compass use. This book is essential to finding your way around. Buy it

Summary: "Not updated, often inaccurate"

I loved this atlas -- until I began trying to drive on roads that weren't there. It is obvious Delorme hasn't taken the time to test and update their information. Many roads that show on the map end partway through in someone's yard, or turn into impassable trails (even for an SUV), some of which pass through private property. Delorme, do your homework!
